doPDF lets you to convert documents to PDF files freely from any Windows application. It installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so it will appear in your Printers and Faxes list and also in the list of All Programs after a successful installation, and to convert to PDF files by simply selecting the "print" command from any supported application, the free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, NotePad, WordPad, or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. When finished, it will ask you where to save the PDF file and, the PDF file will be opened in your default PDF viewer automatically.
